We at Freefeast not only care about machines, hardwares or softwares.

We are indebted to incredible personalities of the world without which the world of today would not have been what it is today.

It gives me immense pleasure and joy to share noteworthy incidents from the timeline of the Indian Entrepreneur whom we know as Mr.Sameer Bhatia- the proud co-founder of hotmail email services and many more ventures. He is one of the poster boys of Indian success story at Silicon Valley.

Childhood & Education:

He was born on December 30, 1968, in Chandigarh to Mr. Baldev Bhatia- an officer in Indian Army and Mrs. Daman Bhatia -a senior officer at Central Bank of India. He had his earlier schooling at Bishop Cotton’s School in Pune and later-on at St Joseph’s College in Bangalore. From childhood he was inclined towards Science & Technology and hence after passing out from school he joined the Birla Institute of Technology (BITS) at Pilani, where he was qualified for a transfer scholarship at Cal Tech – one of the very tough exams of the world. Also it is to be mentioned that he was the only applicant in the entire world in 1988 to get a passing score of 62 in that examination. After graduating from Caltech, He went to Stanford to pursue his Masters in Electrical Engineering where he worked on Ultra Low Power VLSI Design.

Career:

He was highly inspired by the lectures of legends like Steve Jobs, Vinod Khosla and Scott McNealy. After Stanford he got a job at Apple where he worked for a very short time as a System Integrator and than left it and joined Firepower Systems Inc, where he worked for two years. Later in 1994, he teamed up with Jack Smith, a colleague from Apple to create groundbreaking inventions. Both Jacks Smith and Bhatia worked on the concept called Javasoft, which is a web based database. While working on Javasoft, they thought of importance and usefulness of a web based e-mail system. The result of this is popular HoTMaiL, which created history in Cyber world.

Microsoft noticed the popularity of Hotmail and decided to acquire it and as a result, after many negotiations the deal was finalized for US 400$ Million, bring Mr.Sameer Bhatia into lime lights and making him one of the rich entrepreneurs. He than worked for Microfoft for a year and left it to start a new venture called Arzoo Inc, which unfortunately failed with the onset of dotcom bubble, which he relaunched in 2010 as a travel portal. He along with Shiraz Kanga and Viraf Zack developed BlogEverywhere to support the demand of new art blogging. And he also released Live Office which is similar to MS Office and using which the customers can edit and share documents online and offline both. He also has to his credit the launch of Sabsebolo.com – which is a cloud based teleconferencing system. He has also launched Jaxtr in 2011 which is a FREE mobile-to-mobile telephony technology.

Personal Life:

It is known that he is a very humble person and had healthy relationships with his family and friends.

He married Ms.Tanya his long time friend in 2008 and cherishes a happy life with her.

Extra Credentials:

He has many awards and recognition to his credit and is looked upon with respect as a very potential history maker. Future plans of his include the development of a new city in India by the name of Nanocity. The aim of Nanocity is to replicate the vibrance and eco-system of innovation found in the Silicon Valley.

We salute the contribution of Mr.Sameer Bhatia to I.T Industry and Specially to the glory of India.

We are proud of you, Sir.

Best Wishes & Regards,

Deep Bajaj
